How to Recruit a Walk Team
How to Recruit a Walk Team
Once you have decided to form a Walk or Run team, the next step is to recruit members, and The Diversity Center will be there to help you every step of the way. Here are a few ideas to help you get started on the right foot:
- Learn about The Diversity Center and the Walk & Rock walk-a-thon and 5K run by attending the Walk luncheon in March. Contact Andria Young or Brittny Bell at 216-752-300 for more details. At the event, you will receive all of the supplies, materials and information necessary to build a large Walk team.
- Sign yourself up first! Go to our First Giving site (ready February 1st) and then create an online team page. Then, get senior management involved to promote your team-building efforts by:
- Agreeing to walk on the team.
- Endorsing a special letter, memo or bulletin informing employees about The Diversity Center's Walk & Rock and encouraging them to join the team.
- Permitting you to conduct an internal team recruitment meeting with the help of The Diversity Center.
- Authorizing the purchase of team T-shirts for all participating team members to wear on Walk /RunDay.
- Designating an employee from every department to serve as Team Captain for their area.
- Allowing prominent placement of Walk & Rock posters throughout the workplace.
- Set and communicate to everyone the goals for the number of walkers you hope to recruit and the dollars you want the team to raise.
- Detail your team's goals and progress through regular articles in the company or organizational newsletters, bulletins and progress report memos.
- Be creative! Make the Diversity Center's Walk & Rock fun for your team by offering additional incentive prizes and awards to the top participating walkers or groups. Organize parties or picnics for team members to help build momentum!
- Encourage your team members to recruit relatives, friends, neighbors and co-workers to join the team.
- Post Walk & Rock sign-up posters in your workplace to attract new walkers and to show who has already joined.
