Individual Giving

Cash Gifts

Cash gifts are the most popular because they are simple to make, immediately effective and tax-deductible.  Three options are available:

 The Diversity Center
3645 Warrensville Center Road, Suite 328
Cleveland, OH  44122

Wish List Item Gift
We need various office equipment and supplies, click here to see our Wish List.  If you would like to donate an item, please contact our office manager at 216-752-3000 to arrange the details.  If you wish to sponsor an item, please see the cash donation section above and let us know which item your donation should be applied toward.

Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Through a memorial or tribute gift you can honor a loved one while also making a tax-deductible charitable gift to The Diversity Center.

Securities
Stocks, bonds and mutual funds that have risen in value since their purchase make attractive gift vehicles.

Real Estate/Personal Properties
You may prefer to give land/property, which might have been purchased years earlier and has since risen in value.

Life Insurance
Giving life insurance is simple, convenient and allows you to give more than otherwise possible. You can give a paid up policy, buy a new policy with The Diversity Center as the beneficiary, purchase a single premium policy with The Diversity Center as the owner and beneficiary or add The Diversity Center as a beneficiary to an existing policy.

Life Income Trusts
A variety of giving plans are available which allow you to make a gift to us but continue to enjoy income from your assets. You may create a charitable remainder trust by transferring cash, securities or other property to a trustee (usually a bank), which pays yearly income to you for life- or to you and then to another income beneficiary. The trust pays income on a dollar amount basis (Annuity Trust) or a percentage of the trust as valued annually (Unitrust). The specific dollar amount (Annuity Trust) or percentage payment (Unitrust) is determined when the trust is established. Upon the death of the donor and beneficiary (if there is one), The Diversity Center receives the current value of that trust. You receive an important and immediate tax deduction for creating either type of trust, and you are not required to pay a capital gains tax if appreciated property is used to fund the trust.

Gifts Through Wills
You may want to make a contribution to The Diversity Center above and beyond what you are able to contribute on an annual basis.  A practical way to accomplish this is to make a gift through a will by bequest.  You may indicate that The Diversity Center receives a specific sum of money, particular piece of property or real estate.  You may also indicate that The Diversity Center would benefit only if other named beneficiaries do not survive you.  In order to accomplish any of these, rewriting your will is not necessary.  A simple addition, known as a codicil, is sufficient. Your legal counsel can advise you of these proceedings.
