Cultural Competency Seminar
Thank you to everyone who made The Diversity Center's Cultural Competency in Mental Health seminar a success!
Over 150 participants enjoyed a full day of workshops, speeches and a panel, all on issues of implementing cultural competency in their practice of mental healthcare.
Dr. Heather Hall, MD, gave an informative keynote address and Lt. Governor Lee Fisher presented an inspiring luncheon speech. Workshops were facilitated by trained The Diversity Center staff, allowing participants to interact around issues of diversity, inclusion, assumptions, and other issues tied into the overarching theme of cultural competency in mental health.
Testimonial speakers shared stories from the consumer's perspective, of their experiences with cultural incompetency, and panelists answered questions about how practical ways to implement cultural competency skills in the organization.
