Program Specialist, School & Youth – Part Time

The Diversity Center of Northeast Ohio was founded in 1927 as The National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ) as a human relations organization dedicated to eliminating bias, bigotry, and racism in America.  The Diversity Center’s vision is to create communities where all people are respected, connected and valued.  The Diversity Center is a member of the National Federation for Just Communities.


The Program Specialist will serve as a representative of The Diversity Center, enhancing its presence and reputation as a primary community resource in the area of diversity and inclusion.  This position will focus on development, design, implementation, and delivery of ALL programs, including students, educators, youth serving professionals, workplace initiatives, healthcare disparities and interfaith initiatives.  This includes the necessary outreach to expand these initiatives throughout a nine-county area while maintaining current relationships and building new partnerships.


  • Curriculum research, design and development –Primary Role: Community Outreach and Middle School/High School Diversity Programming
  • Organize logistics for conferences, retreats and special events
  • Facilitation of ALL Diversity Center programs – Primary Program: YouLEAD Program/Diversity Through the Arts/Esperanza
  • School & Youth Organization Outreach
  • Building Middle and High School Partnerships
  • Promoting & Facilitating the YouLEAD and Diversity Through the Arts Programs
  • Participate in community events, committees and roundtables
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to program participants
  • Develop marketing collateral for designated programs, events and retreats
  • Managing program and event budgets while also providing project data to support fundraising efforts


Bachelor’s degree and at least three (3) years facilitation and curriculum design experience; graduate degree may be substituted for up to two years of experience

  • Solid knowledge of social justice education theories and pedagogies
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to work as a team in a small work setting
  • Knowledge of educational systems and corporate workplace structures
  • Excellent interpersonal skills—ability to work successfully with individuals of all backgrounds
  • Passion for working with traditionally marginalized groups (people of color, women, youth, etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Optimistic personality with the willingness to share ideas and receive constructive feedback in a positive manner
  • Must have car, valid license and current insurance coverage


  • Self-starter with an ability to conceive, develop, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Results driven, tenacious and aggressive towards consistently exceeding expectations
  • Ability to function independently while being a team player across multiple departments
  • Ability to prioritize, organize & multitask many different elements of the job at once
  • Strong sense of thinking outside of the box in dealing with difficult situations
  • Flexibility to work some evenings/weekends including moderate travel
  • Related degrees/fields of study could include: psychology, sociology, education, diversity/multicultural studies, etc.; fluency in Spanish a plus.
